Phillip Treacy making shoes – Badgley Mischka selling on the Home Shopping Network, what’s next? Hedi Slimane shooting RPatz?

(I was going to make a really crappy pun for the title and I realised I couldn’t think of anything which depressed me a bit.)
Phillip Treacy is known for making elaborate pieces of headwear, as in I wouldn’t call them ‘just hats’. However Treacy decided to mix it up, and his first shoe project ever debuted at the Valentino show this week
He said that the experience was interesting for him:
“I am usually working on the head and then to move to the foot is a whole other dimension,” he explained. “You can’t have the same fragility, because models walk like racehorses and kick them together. And then something very delicate is in tatters but actually, it looks quite good in tatters!”

In other news, unfortunately for many designers, the recession is hitting hard and the influx of diffusion lines is now overwhelming. And now you can add Badgley Mischka to your list!
Next time you turn to Channel 20 (on Freeview obviously) you could be picking up some designer gear whilst you buy your trampoline/fleece snood/graterpeppergrinderricecookerbreastpump combo.
Badgley Mischka whose looks are described as “red-carpet-destined evening wear” are designing a diffusion line for the Home Shopping Network in the US (read: our version of QVC).
Badgley Mischka, will launch a line of apparel, shoes, and accessories called American Glamour next month, as rumoured. Naeem Kahn is also launching an HSN collection called Timeless later this month. HSN which was once a dumping ground for celebrity jewelry lines is now a destination for legitimate designers.

Now you’ll never have to leave your gaff.
Who do you think we could coerce into designing for QVC? Vivienne Westwood? Christopher Bailey? Or what about Stella? I think Viv’s a good bet, she already does those weird plastic shoes.
