Barbour is (officially) back – but it’s always been cool (to me at least)

barbour-commando-jacketWax on, wax always.

I remember once dating a guy who had a Barbour jacket – I ‘borrowed’ it for a while (read:stole) and wore it everywhere. Then we parted ways and I had to return it. I loved that waxy smell (although it made me smell like a wet dog). And running around in the park rolling around on the grass. I was 17. Give me a break. I wore joggers everyday and didn’t brush my hair. Not much has changed except I no longer wear joggers. But Barbour is a brand that is always quietly reliable. Like the good old British countryside. And how about that drizzle?

Now all the ‘cool’ kids (bar Lily Allen, she’s not cool) are wearing them, Barbour have launched a new heritage store off Carnaby Street. And have a new range of lightweight jackets. Please don’t start doing designer collabs though.

Inspired by Barbour’s rich archive of clothing and catalogues going back to 1908, the Heritage store features garments influenced by Barbour’s long design history including the 1940s iconic International jacket worn by nearly every British International motorcycle team up to the 1970s. Memorabilia in the store carries images from Barbour’s archives and is a must for any fashion connoisseur.
