Every time another generic American kid’s flick comes out I cannot help but feel frustrated at the unoriginal narrative and generic casting. However, Shorts has some kind of originality to it. Perhaps it has to do with Shorts being made up of a series of short films slotted in like jigsaw pieces to create a feature.

Directed by Roger Rodriguez (director of Spy Kids) Shorts is full of family fun that follows one boy’s story about how his whole town changed when a magic rock was found. With each chapter comes a new short film. Sounds confusing but its actually quite amusing. Everything you expect not to see, you end up seeing in Shorts! This film is like Soho short film festival meets Hollywood blockbuster- a film within a film! Clearly something which would be a huge favourite for the children of the family. Could be the ideal present for your younger brother or sister maybe?
