Bonnie Wright on the New Harry Potter DVD release

Harry Potter is now embedded in film history. Having gone strength to strength from the first book publication to film adaptation Harry and his friends has captured the attention of all film lovers. Now, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is available on DVD and Blu-ray from the 7th December 2009.

Bonnie Wright (aka Ginny Weasley) managed to have a quick work with Esper about her experience on Harry Potter and tells us what the DVD has on offer:

Sixth Harry Potter film! How has it been for you this year?

“The characters have completely developed over the course of the films. We’ve seen the relationship between Ginny and Harry blossom but in this film there is much more to it – not just the romantic side of it, there’s also this kind of underlying threat, which she’s kind of very much aware of, being within the Weasley family. So it was quite a mixture of emotions really. There’s a sense of romance and comedy and then there are the varying moments of danger too.”

We see a lot of you in this film, how was that for you as an actress being able to take a deeper step into your career?

“It was challenging, exciting and daunting because you want to do as best you can. And you also want to do the character justice. Jo Rowling brings Ginny’s character forward and from the beginning she obviously had a strong direction in mind for her, pulling her towards Harry and bringing their relationship together. So that’s a huge responsibility, but I just zoned into my vision of the character and I just hope people enjoyed it!”

You get your own featurette on the DVD for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! What was that like?

“It was fun. They gave us a bit more involvement in the sense that they wanted us to go and interview different departments that we felt we were interested in. So I did the graphics department and the art department. I think so much of their work doesn’t get seen in the sense of all these details that you see on set. It was weird actually having to present something. It’s very different to doing what we do. It was a bit nerve-racking having to communicate about the visuals that you see on screen. But it was nice to really share something that the audience doesn’t get to see.”

Overall rating: 7/10
