Ashton tells Esper what he thinks of Spread! :)

That’s right – esper got a unique insight into the mind of Mr Demi Moore and his views on dating, and what his best pick up line would be.

“Please tell me about Spread?”

So somebody slipped me the script for ‘Spread’ and when I read it I was really fascinated by a story of Los Angeles that I haven’t seen before. I thought it was um, I found it to be a tale of a slightly morally comprised character but that also had a conscience, that ultimately would present a challenge for me as an actor to play a character that was doing very unlikable things. And see if I could get the audience to come along with me on that ride, even though that character was doing unlikable things. And when Damon McKenzie came along aboard, I felt that his story-telling ability would enhance the film immensely and I was excited about working with him. And then with the cast I just gradually more and more excited to be a part of it.

In this film there are a lot of rules in the dating game you take a look at. Do you think we can apply these rules in real life? Do you think we all have our own set of rules?

I think there are things people can do in the dating world that will make them more successful daters. However, I don’t think there are things you can do in the dating world that are portrayed in this film, that is going to get you closer to your soul mate. So I think there’s a difference between finding someone to hook up with and finding someone to date, and I think this movie is a lot more about finding someone to hook up with and then becomes about finding someone to date.

There was a lot of nudity in the film. Was it easy to get ready for the roles or was it difficult to shoot some of those scenes?

I think the first couple of times I had to do a scene where I was nude, there was definitely an uncomfortable aspect to it. After a while, you just sorta…you know the crew has already seen what they are going to see and they’re not going to see anymore so it’s not like you are going to expose more. So you just sorta do it. It’s probably no more uncomfortable than having played a character.

Last question, what is the best pick-up line you have ever used or been give to you?

I think that is the truest thing about the movie, the best pick-up line-the only pick-up line is, “Hi my name is…” and it’s the truest thing about the movie. There is only one pick-up line and that is, “Hi my name is Ashton…” or “Hi name is…” whatever. Alright. Cool. Great.

Go, watch……go watch!
