The Sartorialist descends to Liberty for LFW ’09
Because I’m a nice person (read: pushover) I allowed myself to be dragged to Liberty for Scott Schuman aka ‘The Sartorialist’ signing of his book.
The Sartorialist is one of the most clicked-on sites in the [fashion] world, with over 125,000 visits per day. The blog has now been turned into a book and Schuman has been flying to fashion capitals for book signings. Starting in Barney’s in NY, he was in Liberty of London yesterday.

One thing I really do miss about the US is air conditioning. Considering how humid it’s been over the past few years, you’d think stores, restaurants, and other public spaces would have clocked on. No. The signing was in the basement with hardly any A/C apart from a few vents. Sigh.
Signing started at 6pm. I waited with Obi, for 2 and half hours. The things you do for friendship. Obi mentioned how everyone dressed edgy because they wanted to be photographed by him. I said she was a hater. It’s London style baby, although yes I would say everyone made an effort. Well obviously. You never know.
For some reason they decided to blast the most trendiest music they had, really fucking loudly. That means Jay Z, Kanye and M.I.A. On loop. There was also a private press section bypassing the queue. Pah, should have got a press pass.
Like with all signings it was over too soon. His book is pretty cool though. Although I don’t recommend to purchase it from Liberty at it’s full RRP of £19.99, get it from Amazon.
Perhaps I should have been more excited, but it was too hot. I liked his glasses, I was going to ask if I could try them on, but everyone was too busy hopping around in glee and rushing us out.

This isn’t Scott Schuman, it’s Manolo Blahnik, but he has the same glasses as Scott Schuman. So groovy.
His autograph is a star, Obi was disappointed.Well, he did have hundreds of books to sign.
I was just hot. And still jetlagged.
