British director Joe Wright has really hit the nail on the head with The Soloist. Not only does he fill each scene with the dirty gritty streets of LA and manage to convert them into an array of beautiful colours he also converts a depressing story into one of the most remarkable films of 2009. Starring Academy Award Winning Actor Jamie Foxx and Academy Award Nominee Robert Downey Jr viewers witness a true, inspiring and uplifting true story of a friendship between two men who have both lost their way in life.

A stunning film

Steve Jones is a selfish journalist (played by Robert Downey Jr) who discovers Nathaniel Ayers who is a homeless, yet incredibly talented musician (played by Jamie Foxx). The men manage to strike up a bond and despite the issues Nathaniel faces from his past Steve manages to gain an understanding into how Nathaniel’s mind works. The pair become good friends and stays strong even during the hard times. By combining both real-life cast and professional actors the DVD will be a must buy for any movie lover’s collection. The thought provoking DVD includes a featurette on the two friends and also takes viewers on a behind the scenes journey to show how the film brought the original book to life in the film adaptation.
